In this project, we were tasked with creating a machine that could lift more than its input force using hydraulics. To accomplish this, I chose to create a lever that was pushed by pressurized water in two syringes of differing diameters. In the end, my lever was inadequate, and was barely able to lift more than the input force of 4.448 newtons. If I were to revise my design, I would move the load closer to the fulcrum so it could lift more. I found my overall machine efficiency to be around 41%, which is quite low. I believe it is this low due to both the placement of the load, and the placement of the effort force in accordance to the fulcrum. To calculate the power of this system, one would take all work that is performed and divide it by the time it took to accomplish it.
